FIRST AID AT WORK TRAINING

OVERVIEW

This is a high quality, intensive course that provides delegates with the vast set of practical skills necessary to respond to a range of first aid emergencies. Upon completion of the course, delegates will be awarded a certificate that enables them to become a designated workplace first aider in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.

Qualifications Network UK Regulated Accreditation is available for a small extra fee and the course can be adapted to suit your particular requirements.

Our 3 day First Aid at Work training course is available at our training centre or in-house at a venue of your choosing.

OUTLINE OF PROGRAMME

Introduction and explanation

First aid health and safety regulations

How to manage incidents calmly and safely

The examination of a casualty and further actions/treatments

Treatment of unconsciousness, shock, bleeding, fractures, burns and scalds

How to deal with heart attacks, eye injuries and general common illnesses

Knowledge of basic life support

First aid kits and dressings

Recording and reporting injuries

Optional: treatment of severe bleeds

ASSESSMENT

The First Aid at Work course is delivered over a three-day period. There is continuous practical assessment throughout by the trainer and at the end of the course a multiple choice examination paper.  Upon successful completion, first aiders receive certification to allow them to practice for three years after which a re-qualification course becomes necessary.

Candidates who have difficulty with assessments should discuss the matter with the trainer before the course and reasonable adjustments can be made.

It is strongly recommended that you update your skills by taking an annual refresher course.

All training is delivered in accordance with Health and Safety Regulations.

EMERGENCY FIRST AID AT WORK

OVERVIEW

This course is designed to suit all employees, be that nominated first aider or those simply requiring a comprehensive first aid course. The training is ideal for lower risk businesses, but nevertheless, we can adapt the course to suit the needs of any organisation if required. Delegates will gain an understanding of different incidents and injuries so that they are able to treat casualties efficiently and effectively.

This course is designed for those who currently hold a First Aid at Work qualification and are looking for re-certification. Training recaps all of the skills gained in the three day First Aid at Work course as well as updating delegates with any new processes and responsibilities which have been introduced since their initial training. The course takes place over two days and ensures that delegates remain able to manage incidents and provide appropriate treatment safely and confidently.

ANNUAL FIRST AID REFRESHER COURSE

OVERVIEW

This course is designed for those who have already completed either a three-day First Aid at Work or a one-day Emergency First Aid at Work course. This refresher training will help keep first aiders’ skills up-to-date, ensuring that they remain confident when examining casualties and applying appropriate action or treatment. The session also provides delegates with an opportunity to ask any questions which they may have.

BASIC LIFE SUPPORT (CPR TRAINING)

OVERVIEW

CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) training course teaches you skills and how to place a casualty safely in the Recovery Position. It will teach you the importance of your role as the first person to save someone’s life.

This comprehensive course is designed to teach Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and treating for choking. The course is multimedia based with practical instruction from Health Care Professionals.

Who should attend?

This course is ideal for anyone interested in learning the basic skills of CPR. It usually takes approximately two hours to complete and with the knowledge and skills you learn you will make a difference and save someone’s life.

OUTLINE OF PROGRAMME

On completion of the course all students will be able to perform the following tasks in a safe, timely and effective manner to an adult, child and where applicable an infant:

Make the call to the Emergency Services (999/112)

Perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

Use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

Remove foreign Body in Choking Adult/Child

CPR AND AUTOMATED EXTERNAL DEFIBRILLATION (AED)

OVERVIEW

Our CPR and Automated External Defibrillation (AED) courses are delivered in accordance with the current Resuscitation Council guidelines and will enable delegates to become competent in the usage of AED equipment. SPORTS FIRST AID

OVERVIEW

This course is ideal for anyone involved with sports and fitness clubs; from match officials, to coaches, to the players themselves. MEDICAL GASES

OVERVIEW

This course is designed for those working in medical centres and the emergency services, including police response units and private ambulance staff. Training provides delegates with a vast theoretical knowledge of medical gases; what they are, how they are used, and how they can be safely stored and moved. Although predominantly theory, delegates will also experience some practical training elements when using the gas units and equipment.
